A quick blog post today on these simple but effective Newspaper Nails such a good alternative to buying expensive nail stickers and they can be done with almost anything. I want to try these with colourful pictures, I think that would work really well, watch this space.
How great are these? I did them a while back and thought I’d write a quick post about them. They took a total of 20 minutes to do and be completely dry. Can’t grumble at 20 minutes can you?
To create this Newspaper Nails look, firstly you need to cut some strips out of the newspaper/magazine/picture whatever it is you’re using to the rough size of your nails. Don’t worry, you’ll trim/file them to the exact size later.
Then paint your nails with a clear polish (sorry about the state of my nails in this picture!). I’ve used BarryM 2 in 1 ‘Basecoat, Topcoat and Nail Hardener’, this is one of my all time favourites, although I’ll need to repurchase soon as mine is drying up.
Then leave them to get to the sticky drying stage and quickly press on the precut newspaper (or whatever it is you’re using) strips.
Coat these with a generous coat of clear nail polish and leave to completely dry. This will take around 20-30 minutes.
Once dry file off the excess paper and coat with further clear nail polish. Again I have used BarryM. Two coats may work a little better to ensure the nails last as long as you want.
And Voila! Effective Newspaper Nails in less than 20 minutes. I just wish I’d put a few more coats of clear polish on afterwards to give them an overall better finish. Like I’ve mentioned above this can be done with other things such as patterns or pictures.
You can buy BarryM’s Basecoat, Topcoat and Nail Hardener here.
Has anyone tried Newspaper Nails with anything different? If so I’d love for you to tweet me photos (@AmiRoseBlog).
Until next time,
