Afternoon readers! I’ve had a busy but fun few weekends here in the Gloucestershire countryside with two of our local Horticulture shows happening one weekend after another. A little insight into Country Life. These are both shows that I’ve been going to since I was little and I love them just the same, if not more now. I feel I’m now able to appreciate the work that goes into organising these shows and the effort that is put in by everyone that enters crafts or produce into the show, understanding that they probably spent the entire year preparing for it!
Hawkesbury Horticultural Show is thought to be the longest continually running Horticultural Show in England, running for 129 years without ever being cancelled for war or weather. How impressive is that! I’ve not taken loads of photos and I’m not going to ramble on too much but I thought it would be nice to write about what happens at these shows.
This are some of the craft/produce entries at Hawkesbury show. It reminds me of Calender Girls, or Wallace and Gromit – ‘Curse of the Ware-rabbit’ (both great films and if you haven’t watched them then please do, you’ll have some good laughs). I’ve said I’m going enter next year (probably a cake of some sort) so we’ll see what I can put together and hopefully I’ll be posting about winning next year. Look at the size of these onions! I tried one after the show expecting it to be sooo strong but it wasn’t actually any stonger than a normal onion. Country Life ay.
They have a float/fancy dress competition that they get a fair few entries to each year, some of the children’s floats looked great, especially a ‘Frozen’ one that I forgot to photograph.
There’s always a falconry show at the event which has been done by the same person for years. His birds were more well behaved this year though. Last year a young falcon flew off and didn’t come back for hours.
I love little village shows like this and I love Country Life, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The same people are there year after year and this ice cream van is no exception. This is Sam’s ice cream ‘Marshmallow Mountain’! He chooses something different each year out of over 50. I had a bubblegum sherbet one which made me so hyper. I feel sorry for the parents buying these for their children!
Yesterday was Kingswood Showday, held in the village I was brought up in. I’ve been to almost every one they’ve had. This tries to focus on more of a Classic Car Show and there’s always some really nice looking cars there. I wouldn’t mind owning one myself. I may be bias thought considering it’s what my Uncle does as a job and I’ve had them around me my entire life.
How cute are these? These ducklings that were bred specifically for the show and there was some chicks too. There’s something about baby animals. Any animal that just makes you coo over them like crazy. I didn’t want to give this little one back.
This last photo is of my Uncle’s Rover that came second in the classic car show. He also won best display for his three cars (2 Rovers and a TR6) and received a nice big box of beer. My Uncle doesn’t drink so me and my brother got lucky and were able to share it between us. I may be a beauty obsessed girl but a bottle of good beer never goes amiss!
What’s your favourite part of Country Life or living in the country or city?
A quick post today on my latest haul and a very very cheap one. I always go into Superdrug to check their damaged/ reduced stand as they’ve usually got some great offers. Although I didn’t expect to end up with over £50 worth of things for £8.77. And nothing wrong with any of it. Check out these amazing Superdrug Deals. It’s always worth checking your local store. It only takes a second and you don’t know what you could find.
There were loads of VO5 products for 50p as Superdrug are changing the stock. These are currently on offer for 2 for £5.50 at Boots too. I’m looking forward to trying them.
Old stock False Eyelashes for 80p, I wasn’t going to miss out on that one. I would have brought loads more if there was any. Especially Bourjois as I love their products.
I use this all the time and it was just £3.50 because I didn’t have a lid. Although I’ve just used up an older bottle so voila, there’s my lid.
Can a girl ever have too many dry shampoos? The answer is no, obviously. Just £1 because of no lid. I used this straight away.
I needed a new concealer and this was 70p because the packaging is changing. I’ve tried other Witch products before and got on really well with them.
25p each for nail art paints, wow. I’ve not used Andrea Fullerton before and have no idea why these were reduced. I’d love to hear some of your thoughts if you’ve used her products?
I’d definitely suggest checking your local Superdrug Deals when you next go shopping. There’s usually some great deals to be had on the bargain/reduced stands. I pick up at least one thing up every single time I go in there and the items are always reduced for such silly reasons.
What’s your best bargain from the reduced stands? Have you picked up any of these Superdrug Deals?
Until next time,

We’ve reached September already (where has the year gone?!) It’s now almost officially Autumn, so today’s post for #Blogtember is about the comforts of autumn and some of my autumn bathtime favourites for the fall.
I’m sure many of you agree, as soon as the winter months draw in, all you think about is bubble baths. Goodbye quick showers, hello hour long soaks in the bath. Baths personally remind me so much of being younger and I just love bath bombs, confetti and salts. The more the better for me. Although you do end up having to empty some of the soap infested, green coloured water after a while. Marks and Spencer
do some great sets of bath salts and confetti in many different colours and scents and for as little as £5. Definite Autumn Bathtime Favourites for me.
Bath salts are great, not only do they smell fantastic, they’re great for you skin too. They can be used for exfoliation which will get rid of your dead/dry skin cells and leave you skin soft and smooth to the touch. Bath bombs can have the same effect also, although they’re more fun just to watch fizz away. I’m totally addicted to LUSH bath bombs
at the moment.
My favourite favourite Autumn Bathtime Favourites is Body Shop
Pure Detox Rejuvenating Bath Soak (pictured above) This is a go-to product for me, it’s just perfect in every way and smells delicious, (if only smellivisions were invented), Willy Wonka where are you? It’s a minty but sweet but sharp fragrance, it’s just lovely. You put a little bit in your bath whilst you’re running the water and it’ll swirl around the bath creating bubbles and letting off this gorgeous fragrance. The idea of this product is that is ‘gives back what your body has taken out during the day’ causing you to feel both relaxed and refreshed, I could do a whole post on this product alone!
The last item in my Autumn favourites is the Bomb Cosmetics Little Hottie scents and burner
. This is a great little product. A very affordable price too (I managed to get everything you see in the picture for just £10!). The Little Hottie scents consist of wax shapes and come in 36 different scents. I got one or more of each. I’m yet to smell them all but my favourite so far is definitely strawberry. These are available in many little gift shops (I got mine on a day out to Bourton-on-the-Water), and they’re available on the official website, there’s also a lot of information about them on their twitter @BombCosmetics. They burn for ages and you can mix and match the scents too to form new ones, check out their floral scent chart!
What’s your favourite autumn comfort?
I thought I’d do the ‘What’s In My Bag Tag‘ as I haven’t done it yet and always enjoy reading these posts on others’ blogs. If you haven’t yet done it, please do and tag me in it, I’d love to have a read. I’m currently using this gorgeous Ted Baker Handbag from Ted Baker’s SS13 range. And have been since January when my wonderful other half gave it to me for my 21st Birthday. What good taste he has (I definitely didn’t choose it myself *rolls eyes*). I love this bag but it’s not ideal to use everyday as the leather is so soft it’s all scratched on the back and looks a mess. I’m hoping there’s something I can get to take it back to it’s former glory so fingers crossed. [update: there was. See how Ted Baker rectified this].
This Ted Baker Handbag has two looks as you can take off the front pouch which doubles up as a clutch bag. Although I often use this front bit as an iPad case as it fits perfectly. It changes the bag completely when it’s off though so you don’t get bored of the same look. It’s definitely impressive how much a girl can fit into a handbag, embarrassing too though! How much of this do I actually need?
I carry around sooo many things in this Ted Baker Handbag that I probably don’t need. But they do come in handy sometimes, occasionally, probably never. I’m currently doing a ‘samples only’ few days to trying to always have some sachets with me. And have been carrying around this No7 nail polish with the intention of painting my nails but still haven’t got round to it. This one is ‘Devil’s Delight’ and one of my favourites from their entire range. This little ‘Ginger’ pot is actually a moisturiser (yes I originally thought it was a lip balm too). I’m pretty sure I got it free in a magazine last year. I’m not sure on the brand of it but any moisturiser of this size is perfect for sorting out dry skin.
A few randoms here. I almost always carry around a hair clip so I can sort my hair out when driving me crazy. This one is from New Look. My Pandora bracelets that I was meant to put on this morning but completely forgot. I’m building up quite a collection now. I love Pandora Charms as each one has a different meaning. All I have to do is look at my bracelets and it makes me smile. A teabag – I’m a Green Tea drinker or fussy tea drinker. I take teabags everywhere with me in case someone doesn’t have the tea I like. High maintenance or what ay! My favourite tea is mentioned in a previous post and is Twining’s Long Jing Green Tea.
I wanted this purse for months but couldn’t find it anywhere. So I was over the moon when I found it at the Cheshire Oaks outlet and for half price. I hope this purse lasts forever as I love it soooooo much.
I don’t always carry around an umbrella but the weather has been strange in Gloucestershire this week. It’s better to be safe than sorry. My notepad is an essential and goes everywhere with me, it’s perfect for jotting down ideas for my next blog posts. My diary is never far away either, I HAVE to be organised and often fill each day with to-do lists. This is from one of my favourite shops, Paperchase.
Have you done the ‘What’s In My Bag’ Tag? Have you got a favourite Ted Baker Handbag?
